Pharmacy First

On Wednesday 31st January, the new Pharmacy First scheme launched across the country. The scheme enables community pharmacists to prescribe medication for 7 common conditions. The problems that you can be seen by a pharmacist for are:

Acute Otitis Media (Ear infection)Aged 1 – 17 years old
ImpetigoAged 1 year and over
Infected insect bitesAged 1 year and over
ShinglesAged 18 years and over
SinusitisAged 12 years and over
Sore throatAged 5 years and over
Uncomplicated urinary tract infectionsWomen Only – Aged 16 – 64 years

If you, or one of your children are suffering from any of the above conditions and meet the age criteria for the particular problem, you can be referred to any community pharmacy through ‘Pharmacy First’.

If you would like to be seen by a community pharmacist, please contact us on 01695 317350 where a referral can be arranged by our reception team. Please note, our receptionists are required to ask for some brief details about your symptoms as part of the referral process.
