Building Works – Starting May 2025
After 2 years of various meetings, discussions and applications; we are pleased to announce that we finally have a start date for building works to commence at the surgery, which will result in an additional 2 consulting rooms being added to our premises.
As many of you will be aware, the demand for General Practice is constantly increasing and is currently at its highest ever point with recent data published by the BMA showing that over the 12 months from March 2024 to February 2025, approximately 368 million GP appointments were booked across the country.
With that in mind, we are always looking at ways to increase our capacity and offer more clinics and services to our patients. It was obvious that our current room capacity was one of the main problems in this area, and as such we have been trying to move ahead with an extension for the past few years.
At long last, we now have a start date of Tuesday 6th May 2025 with works expected to be ongoing for 18 weeks, which will take us to around mid-September.
Once the building works commence, the car park will be closed for both staff and patients. Therefore, anyone with an appointment at the surgery from 6th May 2025 onwards will need to find alternative parking in the vicinity of the practice until the car park reopens.
We are hoping that the car park will be able to be reopened after approximately 10 weeks, but this remains subject to change. We will update the website as and when the car park is able to be used again.
Please can we also advise that throughout the building project, the front door of the practice will be the only entry and exit point, as the door towards the back of the building on the car park will be inaccessible.
Whilst attending the surgery throughout the building work period, it is likely that you will hear construction related noise. Whilst we will work with our building contractor to minimise this as much as possible, we are sure that you can appreciate it is not entirely avoidable.
We do not expect any major disruption to clinics throughout the duration of the project, but if any appointments are affected at any point, we will inform patients at the earliest opportunity.
We would like to thank you in advance for co-operating with us and our staff, and we look forward to being able to post some pictures of the finished project once works are complete.
