Attending your Flu Jab

Posted by:  - Posted on:

As you are probably aware, this year will be a very challenging year for delivering the flu vaccine programme. Now that you have booked your appointment, we would like to inform you of what will happen when you attend:

Please follow these instructions:

  • This appointment is for your Flu Vaccination only.
  • Attend on your own unless you need help in mobilising, if you are accompanied they will be asked to wait outside of the building whilst you are vaccinated.
  • Walk to the practice if you are able to. The car park at the practice will be closed. If you do need to drive, please be considerate of our neighbours.
  • Do not arrive early or late for your appointment time: we have allocated strict short appointment times to ensure that people are queuing for the minimum of time and social distancing is maintained.
  • Please wear a face covering.
  • We encourage you not to touch anything in the practice.
  • Please follow the instructions for queuing. The queue will be controlled to ensure social distancing. A member of the Reception Team will inform you when you arrive at the front of the Surgery as to where you must queue.
  • If it is raining on the day, please come prepared with an umbrella as the queue will be outside for a short period of time.
  • There will be no chairs available to sit while waiting and you will be asked to stand whilst having the vaccination (for infection control).
  • Wear clothing which makes it easy to expose your upper arm.
  • The vaccinations will be given in the doorways of the rooms to comply with infection control.
  • You will be asked to leave via the back door of the building to ensure a continuous flow of patient traffic.
  • Do not attend if you or any members of your household have symptoms of coronavirus, or if you have been told to isolate. Contact us the following week and we will rebook you when you are able to leave isolation.
  • Please heed the instructions of the staff who are supervising the patient flow – they are there for your safety and we are here to help you.
  • If you cannot attend the appointment time you have been given, please call us ASAP so we can reallocate you. This may mean we cannot vaccinate you until later in the season.

We would like to thank you for supporting your GP Practice during the Flu Vaccination season.
